Rucker-Farmer Produce is a family-owned business that works to provide customers with quality products and the best customer service around. The Nut House, as the Rucker and Farmer families call it, supplies its customers with nuts, candies, fruits, sauces, salsa's, and much more. We also buy and sell pecans. You can bring your pecans in to sell to us or have them cracked at a low price. Quality is our biggest concern; and at Rucker-Farmer Produce, we give you the best.
Originating as Roy Rucker Produce, we were once a watermelon business. No, we did not sell watermelons out of the back of a pick-up truck. Instead, we went all around Texas collecting the best watermelons and supplying them to all the Kroger's, Safeway's, and other stores across the United States. On an average day, Roy and his son, Freddie, were shipping out 35 semi-truck loads of watermelons.
After a while of doing watermelon business, they decided to increase profits by going into the pecan business. Originating as Freddie's Nut House, it soon was all inclusive in Roy Rucker Produce. As the watermelon business began to get too stressful and tiring, they decided to work only on pecans. At about this time as well, Roy Rucker decided to pass the family business down to his son, and then it became Fred Rucker Produce. Of course, Roy Rucker stayed actively involved in the day to day operations. At the height of its time, the Nut House spanned through Colbert and Durant, Oklahoma and in Pottsboro and Falfurrias, Texas.
After almost sixty years of business, the Nut House is now only in Colbert, but still thriving as much as ever. Only a few years ago, Freddie began to tire, like his father before him, and therefore had to pass it along once again. With no willing heirs of his own blood, he chose his son-in-law, Jason Farmer, to head up the operations. That is how the name "Farmer" comes in to play. Next in line to take over this family business is Jason's son and Freddie's oldest grandson, Rowdy Farmer. Hopefully he will supply the family with more heirs to take over the business so customers like you can continue to enjoy the quality products and services that Rucker-Farmer Produce offers you.
